Centered around the food and drink that I enjoy on a daily basis and informed by my insatiable love of historical ceramics, my work is a reflection of my interests as a functional potter. In much the same way that a Jazz musician brings his own unique improvisations to performances of old standard jazz tunes, I have always delighted in reinterpreting historical precedents with my own particular aesthetic sensibilities and concerns. The end result, I hope, is to produce new works that compliment the users daily rituals of eating and drinking. Whether its a favorite coffee mug that a person begins each day with, or a dinnerware setting reserved for special occasions, I celebrate the fact that my work will eventually occupy special spaces in peoples lives and homes.
